Appointing a Deputy
Appointing a Deputy
The heartache of seeing a loved one lose their ability to make personal decisions is probably one of the most distressing things to face. What can you do to help in these circumstances?
You will want to protect their interests as a priority. They may already have chosen someone to act as their attorney through an existing Enduring Power of Attorney EPA or a Lasting Power of Attorney LPA. If neither is in place, you will have to consider appointing a deputy to look after their affairs instead. Appointment of deputies is done through the Court of Protection. A deputy is a bit like an attorney and, if you feel you are the best person to take on the role, then the Court will consider this.
In these difficult circumstances, we can provide the expertise and guidance to take you through the application process as quickly and smoothly as possible, leaving you to focus on looking after your loved one.
