The most common types of court orders are as follows:
Residence Orders, which specify who the children should live with.
Contact Orders, which specify the amount of contact (whether face to face or by way of telephone calls and letters) the children shall have with the parent with whom they do not live.
Prohibited Steps Orders, which prevent any named person from taking certain steps such as taking a child abroad without first getting the court’s permission.
Specific Issue Orders, which set out precisely how a particular matter involving the children should be dealt with e.g. schooling.
The court can also make Care Orders or Emergency Protection Orders where the children are at risk of harm.
