FAQs - Frequently asked questions about Collaborative Practice

The negotiation process can be hampered when one or both parties are not ready for it. Do you feel that you know what is best for the whole family? Are you prepared to consider the views and feelings of the other party?

In order to avoid potential problems we can refer you to other professionals who will contribute to making the collaborative process less harrowing and much more fruitful. Such professionals may also participate in the process directly and intervene if a complex or sensitive issue arises.

When required, we also use experts to help with specific issues that may arise during the process, such as independent financial advice or advice on specialist areas as pensions, the valuation of companies and the like. The experts we use are suitably qualified and recognise that their obligation is to act in an entirely even-handed and impartial way, pointing out the pros and cons of various courses of action so that a considered decision can be reached by the two of you about how best to proceed.
