Use of a Specialist Lawyer - Do I need to use the solicitors appointed by my insurance company?
Law4bikers is often requested to provide a second opinion on cases originally handled by non specialist firms of solicitors. It is often the case that such representation falls short of what bikers are entitled to expect.
By way of example we recently took over instructions from a well known firm of claims handling solicitors. Our client had been injured whilst filtering in stationary traffic. He was struck by a car emerging from a side road. The previous firm had advised settlement on the basis of 50:50 responsibility. The client was unhappy and after Withy King's Motorcycle Law Unit, law4bikers, took over the case we settled it for an additional 50% compensation.
Insurance companies often put pressure on people to use solicitors on their own panels but as a matter of principle people are free to choose their own solicitors. Anyone injured in an accident would do well to engage the services of a specialist who is capable of ensuring appropriate compensation is received.
