The pitfalls and traps of intellectual property (IP) and technology disputes will come under the spotlight at a seminar hosted by Withy King's Technology and Media specialists.
The workshop, called Litigate, Mediate or Deliberate? will take place at the firm’s Bath office in Green Park on Thursday, 3 July, from 4 to 5.30pm.
Intellectual property disputes can relate to anything from brand names, text, pictures and photographs, to inventions, drugs, music and software.
IP disputes happen more commonly in fields such as technology, manufacturing, publishing, leisure and retail as IP rights are key to the success of such businesses.
Among the speakers will be Jessica Bent, head of Withy King’s Technology & Media practice, who advises businesses on protecting, exploiting and enforcing their IP assets.
“IP and technology disputes, more than any other, are fraught with traps for the unwary,” said Jessica.
“We will look at the main issues that IP owners face when they are enforcing their rights or find themselves on the receiving end of an unexpected claim.
“Whether you have had experience in taking a claim against another IP owner or being sued, this seminar will identify the main issues you need to be aware of.”
Other speakers include Phil Banks-Welsh, head of Withy King’s Dispute Resolution practice and a qualified mediator, together with the team’s Fiona Lymant and Karen Thomas.
To join the seminar please fill in the booking form and return to Anna Arakcheeva at Withy King via email: anna.arakcheeva@withyking.co.uk or call Anna on 01225 425731.
