Louise, independently-rated as a leading expert and adjudication specialist, advises on contentious construction and engineering matters. She has significant experience acting for contractors, subcontractors, employers and consultants on a diverse selection of matters from advice on issues of design and construction, to disputes over payment and performance.
The variety of her experience ranges from multi-million pound national and international disputes through to subcontractor adjudications on interim payment applications. Louise acted for Costain on the reported decision of Tesco Stores Ltd v Costain Construction Ltd and for Nishimatsu on a major tunelling project.
Louise is a Fellow of the Faculty of Building, former Chair of the Asociation of Women in Property South West Branch, member of the Society of Construction Lawyers and the Adjudication Society.
Recent experience includes:
- Acting for Costain Limited, on the reported decision of Tesco Stores v Costain Limited & others, leading a team of five delivering advice on an £18 million claim against Costain, advising on issues of design and workmanship, limitation and quantum.
- Acting for a major international contractor on a multi-million pound claim relating to losses sustained on a dredging and reclamation contract for a UK port on issues of design and workmanship, insurance, delay and disruption.
- Acting for a major international contractor in joint venture for the delivery of an international tunnelling project on issues of design and workmanship, delay and disruption and subcontractor issues.
- Successfully acting on a number of adjudications for contractors, subcontractors and employers, including advice on NEC, JCT and GC Works forms of contract, for clients in the Hotel, Leisure, Retail, Health and Education sectors.
- Advice on issues arising from the procurement and delivery of projects.
- Advice on letters of intent, contract issues and withdrawal from site.
