Phil qualified as a solicitor in 1993 (having previously been a commissioned officer in the RAF) and joined Salisbury-based law firm, Trethowans. He became a partner in 1996 and was made Head of Commercial Litigation in 1997.

He joined Withy King in 2003 and specialises in corporate insolvency matters, and intellectual property disputes.

Phil has many year's experience acting for and advising insolvency office-holders, principally on contentious issues, and has close ties with senior insolvency professionals, having specialised in insolvency work since 1994. Phil is a member of R3.

He has many years experience in intellectual property disputes, including copyright and trade mark infringement, patent infringement and passing off actions. He has also represented a number of parties in disputes involving infringement of database rights, confidential information and corporate know how.

He advises directors on insolvency-related issues and personal liabilities. He successfully represented a director on appeal to the House of Lords in the case of Natural Life Health Foods v Mistlin (1998).

Phil is also an accredited mediator.
