James qualified as a solicitor in 1978. He joined Marshall & Galpin in 1990 and became a partner in 1994. Marshall & Galpin merged with Withy King in 2008.
James has specialised in family law for over thirty years and has a particular interest in complex financial cases. He advises in relation to pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation disputes and also has extensive experience of the field of civil litigation.
As a Family Mediator and Collaborative Practitioner, he is keen to help clients resolve their cases, if possible, without recourse to court and in as a non-confrontational way as is possible. He always tries to achieve fair and practical solutions and ones which promote the welfare of children.
James is a member of the Law Society Family Panel and committee member of Oxfordshire Resolution, and has been a part-time County Court District Judge for many years. In the past he has been a member of the local CAB management Committee and supported their free advice clinics.
Married with three children he is an enthusiastic church bellringer, enjoys mountain walking and house and furniture restoration.
