Disputes

Any business relationship between owners and trainers or, for example, between joint owners, can lead to disputes. We are familiar with disputes arising from the condition of horses after sale, some of which are not immediately apparent and can result in claims against the seller, agent or vet.

The working environment in the bloodstock industry is unique. Changes to employment legislation, combined with a high turnover of staff, limits on working hours and the reduction of the qualifying period for unfair dismissal claims all increase the risk of employment disputes. We are well placed to advise both employers and employees of their rights and obligations to one another.

We ensure that any dispute is addressed in a robust, commonsense manner, with the aim of resolving it as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

We are committed to alternative methods of dispute resolution and have trained mediators and arbitrators as part of our team, as well as an established track record in fully utilising all ADR processes. If alternative methods of dispute resolution fail or we do not consider them suitable, rest assured, we will litigate strongly to protect your position.
