Regulation Issues

The Rules of Racing are many and complex and recent media attention has focused on the darker side of the industry, with claims of race fixing and corruption. Having been retained by the Professional Jockeys Association for many years, we have considerable experience of representing jockeys, trainers, owners and others, appearing before their Licensing and Disciplinary Committees.

By way of example, cases range from the defence of clients in race fixing cases for the BHA and the criminal courts, to running and riding offences involving champion jockeys.

Our specialist knowledge and detailed understanding of the Rules of Racing means that immediate advice can be given on such matters as BHA enquiries, appeals against decisions of the Local Stewards, defending allegations of corruption riding offences.

Issues surrounding licensing can also be problematic for our clients. We have represented professional and amateur clients undergoing licensing difficulties and have been successful in securing the grant of licences for many clients.
